Drake Has Lots To Learn About Jamaica & Dancehall...Besides Just Hitchin Onto Movado.

A concert Drake gave in Jamaica was cut short by authorities, who accused the rapper of using obscene language.

Drizzy made a surprise appearance early this week at the Brit Jam festival in Montego Bay. However, the Young Money star stopped the show after he received a reprimand from a police officer. Drake tested out his Jamaican accent and said, “Everywhere me go, me seh Jamaica to the blood clot world”.

Though the rapper could have been arrested for the offense, he simply stopped the show after authorities intervened and there were no further issues.

Wyclef Shot In The Hand In Haiti

Wyclef Jean has been released from the hospital after being shot in the hand in his native Haiti.
The former Fugees member was treated for a gunshot wound to his hand, a spokesman for Jean tells The Associated Press.

The incident occurred after 11 p.m. Saturday in the city of Delmas, near Port-au-Prince, when armed gunmen reportedly opened fire on Jean’s vehicle. His fellow Fugees member Pras and brother Samuel confirmed the reports.

“Yes they shot Wyclef and he’s in the hospital and he’ll be fine. They just shot his hand,” tweeted Pras. “Everyone can relax Wyclef is fine… They can’t stop us not one bullet or a machine gun!!!!!!!”

The shooting comes on the eve of the presidential elections in Haiti. Jean is supporting fellow Haitian musician Michel Martelly.

Jamaican Government Expresses Concern For Japan.

Source: Jamaica Observer

PRIME Minister Bruce Golding has expressed concern at the safety of Jamaicans living in Japan after the tsunami that devastated the Asian country today.

Japanese police have announced that 200-300 bodies have just been found in a northeastern coastal area. Earlier today authorities said at least 40 people were killed and 39 missing.

"Jamaica has had long, strong and very close ties with the people of Japan. There are several Jamaican nationals working and studying there so we are deeply concerned about their safety. We pray for all the people of Japan that they will be kept safe and that the rescue operations by international community will be as successful as is humanly possible," Golding said in a statement moments ago.

The prime minister added that he hoped that rescue efforts being offered by the international community will help keep the death toll to a minimum and save lives still under threat.

The 8.9 offshore earthquake, which is is the biggest to have hit Japan’s northeast coast, this morning triggering a 7-metre tsunami that swept away buildings, ships and cars.

The quake was followed by at least 19 aftershocks, most of them of more than magnitude 6.0. The death toll is likely to continue climbing given the scale of the disaster.

Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometre) stretch of coastline were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometres) from the epicentre.

Tsunami waves have since hit Hawaii and are sweeping through the island chain after an earthquake in Japan sparked evacuations throughout the Pacific and as far as the US western coast.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said Kauai was the first island hit early Friday by the tsunami. Water rushed ashore in Honolulu, swamping the beach in Waikiki and surging over the break wall in the world-famous resort but stopping short of the area's high-rise hotels.

Waves at least 3 feet (a metre) high were recorded on Oahu and Kauai, and officials warned that the waves would continue and could become larger.

"Follow Di Arrow" - The Other Story

Since all anyone can talk about is the staged/planned bottling that occured at "Follow Di Arrow" courtesy Kartel & the Gaza "Sheep"(Kartel refers to his fans as this).  I figured I'd post this review from the Jamaica Observer on some of the other acts.  Also here is a re-post of Assassin's performance....I'll post the other artist as I find them.

FOLLOW DI ARROW

THIS year’s staging of Magnum Follow Di Arrow, may have descended into anarchy with bottles being hurled, stampedes and the sound of gunshots being fired during Bounty Killer’s set. However, prior to the melee, the thousands who were gathered at the James Bond Beach in St Mary saw some marvellous performances from some of dancehall’s finest.

The show truly got going with the cultural segment. Teflon, Louie Culture and George Nooks all served up their usual brand of strong performances. Then came the veteran and lyrical Coco Tea. Not only a hit among the men, but the ladies adored him as he delivered 18 and over, love me truly, here I am, been around the world to name a few. From one veteran came another — Josey Wales. Looking dapper in brown, Wales had the crowd in a laughing frenzy delivering Love Triangle a song directed at Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and D’Angel’s relationship. The singer even dug deeper into his musical legacy with songs like Undercover Lover, Cowboy Style and Bobo Dread.

The ‘Outlaw’ even taunted with the likes of Vybz Kartel and Mavado referring to them as Vibes Cartoon and Mofrado.

However, the startime segment of the show clearly belonged to I-Octane. Before he was even visible to the thousands at the venue the air was filled with fireworks. The screams were almost deafening as Octane having the crowd’s undivided attention delivered a string of hits including My life, Puff it, Lose a friend and Badda Dan Dem with fast rising singjay Zamunda.

Future Fambo rocked centrestage delivering Drunken Dance, Rum and Red Bull, Swag to name a few. Mr Lexx, Twin of Twins, Hero, Captain Barkley and Wickerman and a fire burning Fantan Mojah also left a lasting impression on patrons at James Bond Beach.

As the light of day approached the ladies were left smiling by Gyptian who of course performed Beautiful Lady, Mama Don’t Cry, Na Let Go and Hold You to thousands of screaming fans. As anticipated fiery performances were given by Anthony B and Sizzla.

DJ Face led the pack of females to take to the stage. The raunchy lyricist delivered a tight set again throwing lyrical blows at MC Nuffy, Queen Paula, Macka Diamond and other entertainers that she had on her to do list. Halfway through her performance, Face introduced to the Follow the Arrow crowd to upcoming female artiste Mumselle who failed to leave a good imprint. Other females artistes including D’Angel, Stacious and Macka Diamond were also well received by the Follow Di Arrow audience.

Alliance & Empire Supporters Put Others In Danger: Assassin Performance(Video)

THE throwing of bottles and stones as well as the sound of gunshots yesterday morning forced Jamaican dancehall deejays 'Bounty Killer' and 'Vybz Kartel' to run for cover, while patrons attending the 'Magnum Follow Di Arrow' stage show sought refuge under the stage, behind speaker boxes and other places they thought safe as the popular event ended in chaos.

A pregnant woman was among dozens of screaming patrons injured during the incident but it was not clear what their conditions were up to press time last night.

Frightened patrons cover for safety during yesterday’s stone and bottle-throwing incident during the Magnum Follow Di Arrow stage show at James Bond Beach in St Mary.

A member of the security team argues with deejay Bounty Killer (second left) when the artiste arrived yesterday morning at the James Bond Beach to perform at the Magnum Follow Di Arrow stage show.

Bounty, who had exited the stage for just a few seconds when the missiles first started taking aim at the stage, made a brave return, shouting "Mi na run after mi na play dandy shandy" (a game played by children). However, just after the 'announcement' the deejay and members of his Alliance team were seen running for cover.

DJ Sunshine who was seen cowering on the stage was 'saved' when someone used a chair to protect her head, while MC Ragashanti (Dr Kingsley Stewart), who minutes before was urging the crowd to "stay calm" had to beat a hasty retreat as bottles pelted the stage.

It was not clear if the police were the ones firing during the melee.

The show, held at the James Bond Beach in St Mary, was going well until a brief appearance by the controversial Bounty Killer (Rodney Price) at minutes to 5:00 am after MC Ragashanti announced that the Anger Management Band would be making its way centre stage in preparation for "the final chapter of the morning's show". Some patrons were expecting a clash between Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel, while others just wanted the chance to see the two deejays in action. At the entrance of the VIP gate a verbal clash suddenly turned physical between members of Bounty Killer's Alliance and members of the security forces after team members allegedly tried to force their way backstage. Bounty and a few members of his team were eventually allowed access to the stage, but not before the artiste was shoved with a baton by a security personnel. Another member of the Alliance team was also physically abused by a security personnel.

Despite the fuss, MC Ragashanti encouraged the dancehall artiste to take the stage when about two minutes into his performance he began criticising a newspaper report that spoke of a possible clash between himself and his rival Vybz Kartel, then the missiles started flying.

Deejay Vybz Kartel (Adidja Palmer), who appeared on the stage when the throwing stopped for a few minutes himself had to take cover as the throwing of bottles again started. "Weh mi Gaza fan dem deh!" shouted Kartel as he took the microphone, much to the surprise of many as most people had believed that the show had ended. Approximately 15 seconds later Kartel, too, had to run for safety.

The bottle throwing got worse, and during a stampede, tears rolled down the faces of a few women huddled together and blood and open wounds could be seen on the bodies of some.

Last night, the show's sponsor — Magnum — condemned what it said was the action of a few who "caused the inconvenience of many. The 2011 staging of Magnum Follow Di Arrow started with 'positive vibes', leading to several excellent performances, supported by equally good production. However, the 'positive vibes' were shattered when an unfortunate incident led to the end of what could have been the best Magnum Follow Di Arrow to date."

Magnum said that following discussions with both the promoters and the security forces they could not confirm any reports of injuries requiring medical attention.

Magnum, however, said "positive dancehall" must be supported and we vowed to continue supporting "the best that dancehall has to offer".
