Triple Grammy award winning artiste Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley is now a member of the newly formed band Super Heavy.
The other members of the band include Mick Jagger, who is best known as the lead vocalist of rock band, The Rolling Stones, 'The Soul Sessions' singer Joss Stone, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and Indian musician and producer AR Rahman.
According to an article on cnn.com the group got its start two years ago when Stewart contacted Jagger from his home in Jamaica and the two did some brainstorming and settled on the above-mentioned members.
The band has since then been recording together over the past 18 months after meeting at a Los Angeles studio. At that time they were just 'jamming and making a noise' but from that encounter the band's name was also born.
Jagger said it was from Marley's vocals of 'heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy, super heavy' that the name came forth.
He is also confident that The Rolling Stones fans will embrace the group.
There are currently no plans for Super Heavy to go on the road for performances as they are still experimenting with their sound.
The group's debut LP album is being planned for around September.
